PROJECT NEW HOPE INTERNATIONAL

Bringing Hope to those who have lost hope!

Those of us involved in Project New Hope International are Christians.  We are concerned about being faithful to Christ in our life.  Our loyalty is to Jesus.  That is why we are in Peru.  Our focus is on obedience.  We don't have a 'statement of faith' as much as what we call "Our agreement", which is the basic doctrine we have decided to accept as the guide for our work.  One doesn't have to be in 100% agreement with every item to participate, but we ask that no one participating use their position or forum to advance other doctrine within the work.  We don't want to get detoured in fighting over doctrine.  We want to fight for unity.  We want to fight for taking Christ to the world.

BASIC DOCTRINE OF PROJECT NEW HOPE INTERNATIONAL

The Bible teaches that God is creator, and sustainer of our world and the Lord of our lives.

Jesus is the only living Son of God and our Savior. Through Him, God opened the way to the abundant and eternal life through His death, burial, and resurrection to all who name the name of Christ.

The Holy Spirit is God Himself encouraging, guiding, and transforming us in the way of Christ.

The Bible is the inspired word of God. It is the authorized rule of faith and practice for Christians and the Church.

Jesus instituted a new covenant with God, which succeeds and transcends the old covenant with Israel. As such we accept the Old Testament as preparatory to the New Testament and we rejoice in that we relate to God through the grace of our Savior Jesus Christ and not through the law.

We are a church free and independent under Christ, guided for the counsel of the leaders.

We determine our policies and practices in light of the New Covenant expectations, and voluntarily cooperate with other groups of Christians in fulfilling the great commission of Christ.

We require of members only what was required in the New Testament. One should believe in Jesus Christ as the only Son of God, repent of their sin, surrender to the Lordship of Jesus, confess their faith and thus obey God in Christian baptism, and then follow Jesus as a faithful disciple.

We practice the baptism of repentance of believers by immersion in water, believing that this expresses the form and teachings of the New Testament.

The New Testament teaches that all believers receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in relation to their faith, repentance and baptism into Christ.

The New Testament teaches the ministry of all believers, recognizing that the Holy Spirit gives various gifts to the members of the body in order that each member can make a contribution to the effective ministry of the entire church.

Thus, we are a church, full of the Holy Spirit, seeking the will of God and seeking to be more like Jesus.

We are a church of prayer. We daily seek God through prayers of adoration, confession, gratitude and petition.

We are a church of Ambassadors for Christ, seeking to prepare all to share the Good News with all who will listen.

We are a church of missions, seeking to take the message to all parts of the world.

We celebrate the Lord's Supper each Sunday, as we find the Christians in the New Testament did. In doing so we remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us and that He is coming again.

God expects that we manage well our personal money and that of the congregation. We encourage Christian to tithe as the minimum that we should return to the Lord, in order to allow the church to fulfill the great commission.

We are eagerly awaiting the sound of the trumpet of the Lord when we will rise to meet Him in the Resurrection and spend eternity with Him.
